About Everglades Wonder Garden

The Everglades Wonder Garden is a truly unusual nature experience that is sure to thrill the entire family. The expansive park offers a huge range of wildlife and plant life that you will struggle to see anywhere else. These Bonita Springs botanical gardens offer comprehensive tours, or you are free to explore the park on your own.

History

The park dates back to 1936 when two brothers, Bill and Lester Piper, established The Reptile Gardens. The original gardens were designed as a tourist attraction for travelers passing from Tampa to Miami.

The exhibits quickly expanded to include more and more marvelous examples of Southwest Florida’s miraculous wildlife. The name was changed to Everglades Wonder Gardens to reflect the variety on offer at the gardens.

Over the years, Everglades has become known for its exceptional wildlife rehabilitation programs. Today, the park is acclaimed for its wide range of educational programs and its admirable attitude to conservation and wildlife health and safety.
