Major League Spring Training

Every year in March, you can watch two big-name teams train right here in Bonita Springs. The Minnesota Twins and the Boston Red Sox both return to Florida annually for their spring training efforts, so it’s easy to catch one of your favorite teams while you’re on vacation. Coming out to watch spring training can be a fun activity for the whole family, even the ones who don’t keep up with sports. There’s just something about being together with family and friends, eating delicious stadium food, and cheering on your favorite team while they get ready for the upcoming season.

Where Do the Teams Train?

Hammond Stadium in nearby Fort Myers is the training spot for both the Twins and the Red Sox. During the regular season, the stadium hosts Minor League games as well. This location has been the spring training home of the Twins since 1991, drawing both locals and visitors to come and watch. Luckily, Fort Myers is only about a 40-minute drive away from Bonita Springs, making it the perfect day trip. Grab a bite to eat, do a little shopping, then catch spring training before heading back to our Bonita Bay rentals.

Ticket Prices and Game Schedules

When you’re planning your vacation, you may want to go ahead and order your tickets early. Each year, ticket prices and game schedules for spring training are released in mid-November, and you can actually purchase your tickets beginning in December or January. This allows you to plan your schedule as well as your budget for your upcoming trip. If you happen to forget to preorder your tickets or you just want to go on a whim, you can often grab a ticket on the day of the game or a couple of days beforehand.

Even if you don’t catch a Major League team at the stadium, there’s a good chance that a college team or local Little League teams are competing, so you can catch a baseball game almost all year round!
