A Family-Friendly Sanctuary

Of all the family-friendly activities near Bonita, Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary is a favorite for visitors and locals alike. Their conservation ventures have been helping to preserve Florida’s flora and fauna for more than 100 years. National Audubon began their efforts in 1905, focusing on wading birds. In the 1940’s and 1950’s, Audubon started focusing on the Corkscrew Swamp area, a then-isolated segment of land in danger of destruction. Today, it stands as a strong example of the beauty of Florida’s natural environments.

All that visit Corkscrew Swamp are amazed at the ever-changing environment and the beauty it holds. The sanctuary is dedicated to making a family-friendly space where your whole party can learn and experience nature first-hand, all while teaching you simple steps you can take to help preserve the environment and the gorgeous creatures that inhabit it. From their guided tours to interactive workshops and events held throughout the year, you’ll be able to enjoy something new every time you visit!
